Billy Ramsell

Billy Ramsell (Ireland) read at the 2019 John Hewitt International Summer School, alongside Tamar Yoseloff.  

Billy has two critically acclaimed collections with Dedalus Press, “Complicated Pleasures” (2007) and “The Architect’s Dream of Winter” (2013). He lives in Cork where he co-runs an educational publishing company. He is the former editor of the Irish section of the Poetry International website and in 2013 he judged the Strong Shine award for best first collection by an Irish poet. 

“The Architect’s Dream of Winter” was shortlisted for the Irish Times Poetry Now Award and recently appeared in Italian translation. He was awarded the Chair of Ireland Bursary for 2013 and has been shortlisted for several other prizes. Recent work has appeared in Poetry, Poetry London, and The Poetry Review and his poem, ‘Lament for Christy Ring’, will be on the 2023-2026 Leaving Cert curriculum.
