Paula Cunningham (Ireland) read in Armagh for the 2013 National Poetry Day celebrations (hosted in conjunction with The John Hewitt Society and The City Chapter), and for the 2014 John Hewitt Spring Festival in Carnlough.

Paula was born in Omagh and lives in Belfast where she works as a dentist. Her pamphlet, A Dog called Chance, was a winner in the 1999 Smith/Doorstop Book & Pamphlet Competition. Paula has won both the Poetry Business Competition and the Hippocrates Poetry Prize (NHS section) and was shortlisted in the Edwin Morgan Prize. Heimlich’s Manoeuvre (Smith/Doorstop, 2013) was shortlisted for the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize, the 2014 Seamus Heaney Centre Prize for First Full Collection, and the 2014 Shine/Strong Award.

Paula has also written drama and short fiction and a short story appeared in Faber’s Best New Irish Short Stories 2005.
